                                       GENRE: YA FICTION CRIME  THRILLER
MY TAKE

I thank Nikhil Pradhan and Harper Collins Publishers for having sent the free copy of this amazing  book

COLD TRUTH by Nikhil Pradhan is a medical thriller with surprises every corner you get sucked into the story. Fact is bitter than fiction. When a story is revolved around facts it sounds so natural and addictive. This book belongs to this category. From the beginning to the end the tale hooks me and it is deftly unputdownable read once we begin to read it.

This book talks about the medical experiment and the events associated with it are scary and sinister. It is a story of greediness and deceits trial and error method, risks, and dangers  hope and pain.

The Plot

The book starts with a big bang. The missing of Saksi Prakash 10 years old. Her father Anand Dev Prakash a professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University has filed a complaint but there is no police action. There are four  parts captioned The Missing, Russia,  Trinity and Land's End. The tale ends with Epilogue.

The author a journalist narrates the story in his voice. It's indeed his memoir involving the investigation he makes for finding out the girl. In this mission, he gets the assistance of Abhay Chaudhary from Military Intelligence. The doctor who is treating Sakshi as she suffers from diabetes.
is Dr.Sudhir Mhatre and he is found dead.

Abhay intensifies his search for the girl and he leaves for Russia as he doubts the involvement of the Soviet experiment. This leads to so many revelations about the research.Whether he could find out the girl?who is directly involved in the kidnapping of the girl? For answers you have to read it.

The blurb highlights the chilling secrets and long-deal skeletons tumble out

The Pro

This is a great thriller talks about global threats. The author has created a pulse-pounding nail-biter focused on a single family ordeal. The book was a good reminder of the horrors of "research and how deadly they could be. It is also a well-written story that moved forward smoothly and quickly. I couldn't put it down.

I have anticipated a great  thrill and I am not disappointed.I have learned a lot of interesting information. The book is a whodunit revolving around a missing of a girl. It is a fine read. The ending would make you gasp at what he finally found out. An awesome story of mystery adventure action and suspense horror.Good suspense and good pacing. The suspense s built up by giving a myriad of suspicions and digging into the background of many a witness with all the secrets ranging from kidnapping to greediness.

The action has myriad twists and turns and contains many leads and miscues that make the reading an intriguing one. The book is very interesting and scary. You would bite your fingernails in excitement when you read it.The book is heavily engaging and it takes you to the journey of guessing.I will revisit this book in future.

Nikhil Pradhan has woven an intriguing plot with twists to keep the most avid mystery reader guessing. He has crafted realistic characters to make the readers hard to put down. The characters struggles and challenges are realistic and natural.

It would keep you at the edge of the seat with intense action and antique. The title says about the genre it belongs to. The Cover design by Amit Malhotra and Cover Image by Getty Images are superb.

I enjoyed the suspense and action. I appreciate the patience maintained by the author.

The author has added layer little by little and increase the suspense we can not guess the culprit.
An entertaining read for fans of thrillers. Ingenious intrigue crafted with a finicky finish.

I close the book awaiting the author's next offering.

I recommend this book to all fans of thrillers. This book is not suitable for children as it targets male market.

Score :5/5

TRUTHFUL LIES

TRUTHFUL LIES

தொடர்புடைய படம்

“RAVI, I want to talk with you”shouted Meena giving a sharp look.
“Okay, I would freshen up myself first and we can talk for hours” retorted Ravi.
This sort of conversation took place often of late. Both Ravi and Meena were husband and wife and they got married very recently. It was a love marriage and they seemed to be the MADE FOR EACH OTHER couple. Ravi  was working in an MNC  and Meena  was an officer in a private bank.

All along everything was going on well and all on a sudden a seed of suspicion was planted in the mind of Meena. The sudden change in the behavior of Ravi was the reason for it. It was the usual practice of Ravi to go to his office by his TVS Victor and very rarely he took their SUV if he had to go to a distant place for meeting the clients etc. Of late Meena observed he went by SUV and returned late. When he came back he would go to freshen up himself. Also, she found oily patches on his shirt and pant which he would keep in the bucket after using the brush to clear the oily residues.

This lead to a doubt in the mind of Meena.

When Meena asked about his late coming Ravi won’t give a direct answer. From his words, she would find out he was lying. This paved way for some misunderstanding and communication gap
Whenever he took the SUV key she understood he would come late and she was sure he was cheating on her by giving false excuses and imagined a lot.

Meena felt perplexed and tried to find out the truth. In the meantime Ravi was also undergoing a period of anxiety as he could not tell Meena the actual truth.

One day Meena’s friend Kavitha called her.
“Hello Meena, How are you?” asked Kavitha
“HI, Kavi Ok di “replied Meena.
“Meena you sound no nice. What is the problem? I want to tell you something about your hubby”. She started to utter  a new information.

“ I have seen your SUV and your hubby is on the wheel. What is the business he has got  in our area.?”

The small information gave a sigh of relief to Meena and hoped that with the help of Kavitha she could solve her problem. Actually Kavitha was living in another city some 40Kms from their city.

“Kavi I don’t know about his trips to your area and he is not telling the truth. I doubt him. I wish you help me to find it.” lamented Meena.

“Sure that is what for we are friends.”She consoled her.

Meena switched off the mobile and sat closing her eyes. Her memories took her to the past.
When Meena met Ravi in the college in the same class MBA she got a crush on him at the first sight.
Ravi also fell for her as she was very charming and beautiful. The love blossomed and they decided to marry.

In the meantime, Meena’s parents chose a boy belonging to their rich  circle for Meena and they began to arrange things for their marriage. When Meena told about her love for Ravi their dreams were shattered. Meena was so stubborn and after a lot of argument and quarrel she married Ravi and said a big goodbye to her parents.

Suddenly it occurred to her their parents were staying in the same city where Kavitha was living. Ravi’s odd behavior and late coming should have got some association with her parents she thought.

Next day Ravi took the SUV key and Meena decided to follow him and find out the truth. She took a call taxi and went to Kavitha’s house.Already Kavitha saw Ravi entring into Meena’s parents' house. So they went there. When she peeked into the house Meena got shocked as Ravi was giving oil massage to her father who seemed to be affected by a paralytic attack and his limbs were lifeless. Tears welled in her eyes.

A loss in his business affected her father and resulted in leaving him bedridden and paralyzed. Ravi who was in touch with Kavitha   came to know about this and he decided he should help them at this crucial juncture . He was not sure of Meena’s reaction and hence he didn't tell the truth.

Meena  hugged her mother and wept. She realized her mistake and begged her  to forgive her. She said sorry to Ravi as she doubted him. She thanked kavitha . Later on united they lived happily.

CELEBRATIONS FOLLOW WHEN WE FORGIVE

CELEBRATE THE JOY OF FORGIVING

Celebrations bring joy and happiness, mirth and merriment, ecstasy and euphoria. They flaunt our sense of belonging among ourselves and the affinity affability, love, and affection we have got for each other. They give a benign break to our otherwise monotonous and mundane life and ask us to STAND AND STARE at the beauty of living. They are the occasions to display our respect for the elders and they create opportunities to develop the bond among the youth.

These celebrations which arise due to festivals or on account of special events like birthday etc they give an opportunity to relax and enjoy the finest moments of life and leave memories to relish at the later period. They are meant for bolstering social harmony and the effects are totalily external.

Our mind also requires a season of celebrations as it is as good as a garden. It is to be protected from evil thoughts and groomed by the noble ideas so that we live with peace and happiness. For this internal serenity and blissfulness, we need celebrations. The quality of forgiveness paves way for many a celebration and coupled with forgetfulness it assures us maximum tranquility.

There are circumstances and situations which mean to spoil our relationships and there is a necessity to forgive the offenders. For some mistakes you choose to forgive the person, you feel relieved from your mental agony you experience due to such unpleasantness and you get a good sleep. Whereas you are stubborn not to forgive those who act against you-you harbor all the evil thoughts the ultimate sufferer is your self and you are paying a higher price for your seamless life.

Life gives only one chance to live in this world and between our birth and death we cannot go on pondering over the unfortunate things that happen due to the unmindful acts and words of others. It becomes an essential part of our growth in the path of wisdom to forgive and forget so that we move on the positive manner and keep our social life happy and peaceful.

At this juncture, I recollect an event that has happened in my life when I was studying in primary school. If I remember correctly I was studying 6th standard and in our class, there was a practice. Whenever a student commits a mistake or forgets to do his homework the student sitting next to him would give a knock on his head with his closed fist.

Once it so happened I could not give a correct answer to a particular question and the teacher asked my co-student sitting beside me to give a knock on my head. Immediately my buddy gave a knock on my head and drops of ink spilled over my white shirt as he knocked me with the fountain pen without the cap  which he was holding between his fingers. He  forgot to place the pen on the bench and this resulted in leaving  blue batches on my white shirt.

First I was shocked and tears started to well up in my eyes. Other students began to laugh and both of us came to our senses. My buddy's look  pleaded guilty and asked me to pardon him. Then we also joined the fun and I said it was ok. After the class ended he again  asked me to forgive and I consoled him that it was not done wantonly and I did not take it seriously.

This incident has opened my eyes in myriad aspects. There is no motive or planned attempt as I know my buddy well. Nothing can be done once there was a mishap or injury both physically and mentally. If we think it doesn't require so much thinking it is better we forgive and forget. Afterward, whenever we meet we use to recollect the incident and laugh at ourselves for the mishap. I feel this is a healthy trend and it enriches the relationship. If I shout and make a scene there is no end. He has realized his mistake and apologized. It is only humane to forgive and forget. We need not be bestial to react with the tit for tat attitude which worsens the situation.

Yes, the damage is done but there is nothing to escalate and expose. If we think that our self-esteem is affected and make a mountain out of a mole what is the benefit?

Life is full of laughter, excitement, and adventure, but peace and joy belong to those who forgive and forget. It is no magic or mystery but the basic realities lead us to the glorious realm resulting in perfect harmony in our social life.

Forgiveness cheers you up, pacifies you down. It warms you up and makes you cool down and its effects are supreme. You look great and for your well being and mental health, you should try to forgive and forget. This should integrate into your system so as to improve your quality of life and feel amazing all day long

WE DESERVE PEACE OF MIND
WE NEED SOUND SLUMBER
WE SHOULD BE BALANCED
IF WE FORGIVE AND FORGET
WE ASSURE OURSELVES CELEBRATIONS
OF ALL THE ABOVE
