"Destiny of Shattered dreams" is the debut novel of Nilesh Rathod. The book   portrays  both personal and professional life of a big shot in the corporate world .

The blurb of the  same on the backside cover of the  book says about it as follows;

A tale of yachts and hidden swiss accounts , sordid affairs of lust, intrigue, and exhilarating highs , Nilesh Rathod's DESTINY OF SHATTERED DREAMS  is also the story of innocence forever.

Fiction is more truthful  than reality. When I hear from the media about a scam or fraud,I use to follow  the same for sometime till there is news on it. Once the media gets a new  juicy and sensational news they stop reporting  about it.Here I see a book which has got a scam as its core and gives the  full picture. It is a rare one for the like of me and I find it very engrossing.

The tale starts from the court where the judge announces his verdict of two years imprisonment  to the protagonist namely Atul Shyamlal Malhotra , thirty  five years old chairman and  founder,  CEO of Transmech Telecom  Limited . All his 'behind the scene"activities like money laundering , bring  him to the present situation and fetch  bad name for the company. He tackles the bottlenecks in his own way .But it results in his downfall.

Meanwhile  he encounters  trials and tribulations in his married  life leading to divorce and heading towards second marriage.

In spite of his wisdom and sharp intelligence he is becoming a scapegoat in the hands of the corrupt and greedy politicians . He comes across   tragic situations including the "elimination " of a whistle blower ,his own employee.

Uniquely connecting the events in the business  world  Nilesh Rathod has projected a story unraveling the  nexus between the  head of a big corporate company and  politicians with the precious cost of characters. The ending  is surprisingly unpredictable  and it is heartening to read it. Also the concept and execution are fantastic to be fit for making it as  a movie.

Sometimes logic is missing. For example, when the hero has got an ordeal with a politician he goes to another one to meet the same fate. Also I find some sentences are repeated  and I can't  catch the point .

This book is meant for all young and old. Those who have got interest in commerce, economics , and politics will enjoy it more.

Cover  design by Mugdha Sadhwani  and Photograph by Getty Images are nice and wonderful.

Rating 4/5

“Bhrighu Mahesh, PhD “ The witch of Senduwar is a crime fiction written in the most  fluent fashion  of genius like Sherlock Homes, the fictional private detective , aided by the technique of observation. This logically  marvelous  book is woven with a beautiful social mysterious  drama in a literary style.I like the thrill and excitement It has created in me and the poetically expressed prose has lured me to finish the reading within three days.  I like itssimplicity and the tempo it maintains throughout the story. My keenness to know the way the story proceeds , will always work like a trigger to complete the book at one go. It is a great delight to come across an Indian version in the contemporary atmosphere  casting a brilliant work in the form of a mystery thriller.

 The plot

The story is told in a first person ‘s voice  and his name is Sutte . He  happens to be the  neighbour of  Bhrigu Majesh   ,the protagonist who is the detective ,  assigned the job to unravel the mystery of a murder. The victim is the  only son of Jayanti Devi a 65 old woman living in a  village Senduear in Bihar.  It  relates to a legend involving a witch  well versed in "Black magic herbs"What is the motive of such a heinous crime , who is the culprit and other related questions arise and the answers are found by the hero after many  efforts  and experiments. In between there are so several  sub plots to carry forward the story in a coherent and logical way.The methods used by him to find out the truth are given in a beautiful manner. The theories and formulae employed are included in the story. The sharp intelligence and quick reflexive movements  of  the investigator are exhilarating .

The language is superb. Nisha Singh’s style is exquisite . it is straight , poignant not mind -boggling.The words are crafted  with  an artistic workmanship to get awe-struck and it makes the reading a lively experience. Valuable in formations  and ideas  are strewn all over the pages to enlighten  the reader about the mechanism applied by the investigator.

The characterization is strong  and vital to the movement of the tale. All the characters  are down-to earth and they are realistic. I like Meenakshi  character because she  is projected as  an eccentric one with an aptitude to be the voice of the voiceless. But she chooses to become a social worker to help the exploited and poor villagers.

Some humorous situations tickle your ribs to create a spontaneous laughter. Sutte helps in this area and it gives some relief in the otherwise tense and fast moving story.

I find the following lines in the book are meaningful. .

A couple can never survive together if both are equally controlling. One has always to back down to make room for the other.

Suspects are like pieces of chess. Read them correctly and be ahead by one move only. You will win the game.

Charm of a temptress is the most potent weapon known to mankind.

Love should never be bound by laws , even marital ones .  it was and should be free.

Talent is distributed equally , nor is knowledge.

I find a very few grammatical errors and otherwise the book is flawless. Every effort is made by the author to present a great novel.

Rating  :  4.5/5

My verdict

It is an exciting read and I like the concept , story and the execution.  I recommend the book to all, especially who are interested in detective novels with a love for literature .

"Go Clown" is a very humorous and hilarious  broad comedy, It is a  story of a droll, which is also a  jovial, fun filled  but thought provoking   novel written with a literary flair  to make the reading a pleasant experience coupled with the pearls of wisdom in the form of philosophical  psychological and motivational  quotes and discussions. From the beginning to the end humour is taken as the core subject   with the result, it comes as an oasis for all of us in the present fast paced life in this complex society infected by hypocrisy, corruption  and other evils .After a long time I come across such a funny and amusing  book .

I am  impressed by the name of the novel   "Go Clown" as I find it engrossing  to read   the pranks and antics of the main character ie the  protagonist namely Kirthi  , with whom we can connect in our day to day life  easily. His views of everything at his perception level may seem to be exaggerated and magnified only to serve the purpose of making you laugh and relax . His criticism from his POV is somewhat sarcastic sometime and reasonable on other occasions  but leading us to see the reality and realize the cruel nature of people  , circumstances and situations.

I like this novel because of the above fact which is stressed upon in a comical  manner. At times it may seem to be boring but the words are crafted  in a beautiful and spectacular manner to make it very appealing and amazing.

Characterization is done beautifully  I like Kris for his wisdom and wit at his age . Every character seems to be there for a purpose . We meet different persons with various qualities and traits .

The plot.

Kiriti who belongs to a  Hindu middle class family living in the coastal town of South India is  the protagonist whose life story is given with a biographical tone. .The child in him is referred as "Clown" and the games  played by him are  mischievous and childish .The story starts from America  and up to seven  chapters his college life is dealt with and all the happenings, his actions and reactions, ordeals encountered by him ,attacks and counter attacks   are written   well .Ragging menace is highlighted. His buddy Kris  makes his life wonderful .

From chapter 8 the story again starts from his birth and passes on to his adolescent and college  days. His interactions with people mostly his well wishers and his associates , his expectation , frustration ,  pain , joy ,  aspirations,  dreams and his endeavors all are given in a marvelous and fabulous  manner . We see both the privation  and richness in their true colour . His mother is the sole bread winner of the  family, albeit his father is well alive and don't care about his family and act  responsibly .Like a vagabond he whiles away his time on  gambling and other vices.Like this  we come across characters with whom Kiriti grows up with  a  story. There are so  many characters  each has got an episode. In the meantime he is practicing a Chinese game "GO" which is very helpful to him in his day to day life

The story moves on to America again and how the hero joins politics and tries to plan for the development and growth of our nation is well depicted .He continues his mission  after coming back to India.

I am overwhelmed  by the following paragraph which gives a beautiful and realistic approach to our life .

Kris Kiriti's buddy utters  the following words when they cross the road and see the faint traces of blood .

In a way we are all pedestrians crossing the road and we never know when we will be hit by something which will end everything that we know , we feel and we see. There is no point in making plans and trying to cling onto them thinking that we are  in control of everything about us.There is no point in searching for any Meaning ,  when eventually the concept of Meaning itself will cease to exist. All we can do is just keep crossing . We can not sit on the sides , afraid to cross , afraid that we cross the road it might be our last crossing.

The following golden quotes mean a lot .

Everything is bound to happen at the appropriate time . No amount of worrying can change the order of things which they ought to be in.

In America the poor are fat and the rich are thin
in India poor are thin and the rich are fat.

A man's life originates from the earth and ultimately settles back in the same dust.

A child's mind is more like a lump of clay which needs to be given a delicate shape and structure , by the skilled hand of a potter.

When there is a mention about the father of Kiriti namely Niswar it is given as follows:

But above everything else is life there was one valuable trait that Niswar was blessed with. The one that mankind has been searching for all since ages. From the summit of the mighty snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas to the voiceless vacuum in the moons caters , man has been looking for it everywhere and it has been rarely found . The ones who find it are the true monks of soul and this nature of value was "being content and happy with one's life!"

The narration is direct ,simple , and honest ,but there is no suspense , thrill ,  sudden terns  twists romance and but there is only a  comedy. There are so many comparisons of situations and  circumstances with rhyme and rhythm to attract  the attention of the reader. The changing    scenery is so fast and quick sometime we may feel we are traveling through so many lanes and roads which may hamper our reading  . The incidents are also given as peeling of layer by layer  from the  onion The routine way of explaining the same and ending with the pinnacle of mockery will lead us to predict before hand . There is a  grammar mistake.   An is used before the word "serious" instead of a.But for such negligible mistakes it is a great delight to read the book. Adult content is added here and there the book is meant for youth only.

Some incidents are repeated in different forms and so it is predictable. Kiriti makes plans for the prosperity of the nation he should have  made efforts for safety of women which has become a billion dollar issue in addition to corruption. The Game "GO" is not elaborated  I can not follow it.

The cover design by Priyanka Kumar and Neena Gupta is superb.
"Kiriti's Moves" given in a separate sheet with a table and figures along with a blank yellow sheet with columns and rows  will be useful for those who want to learn and play the game "GO" The author has suggested to visit www.GoClown.Com for playing the same.

Rating : 4.5/5

My verdict

I admire   this book for the  comedy as laughter is the best medicine and I recommend it for all who want to enjoy  reading  funny situations and laughable circumstances .It is a must read by all youngsters as the story revolves around the  young lad from his infancy when there is no Internet and smart phone  and also it covers the latest period where there are  Face book,Twitter  and other social media .

Make every second count

Small drops make an ocean. Similarly small steps take a Marathon. We call them baby steps. Babies have the quality of radiating happiness in the environment. They will be always active , looking happy and without ego they ask for anything and everything. When we grow up we loose the track we have travelled and we unnecessarily accumulate all the stuff irrelevant to our life. This results in heavy burden and disguised responsibility.

Nowadays we talk about the way people run here and there to get this and that in the meantime we forget to enjoy our life and fall prey to worry and tension .We make our world into a hell because of our greediness and the tendency to prove ourselves great . We live our life not in our own style but according to the undue pressure thrust upon by others without our knowledge.

Everyone is unique and we have to write our own life script with the capacity and capability we are blessed with. Life is to be active , successful and moving towards progress .When we are highly self motivated and committed , we act as an ant naturally we can enjoy the same  as a great blessing because action speaks louder than words.

We hear about stress and tension in this present period  frequently because we forget to take rest and recuperate ourselves in our struggle to achieve more and more. A limited stress level is OK as it acts as a great motivator. Like a rubber band a certain degree of stress is necessary to pull on and when we are active always we would feel hale and healthy .As the saying Empty mind is devils workshop we have to be engaged physically and mentally.

What we take as food decides our well being. Good diet is suggested for all those who  suffer from any disease and the role of nutritionist  has become significant. Vitamins, minerals and other nourishing ingredients are necessary for our body .In order to undertake our daily activities we need a certain quantity of food and the same we should get on regularly .In our country we use to take wheat and rice in large quantity.

Vegetables and fruits are important for our bones and vital organs like heart and brain.Only good food will give us the power to utilize our brain properly.Like a glutton if we take food and become obese it gives a danger signal to our heart. The thump rule is that we should stop eating when our stomach is half filled. Traditional food taking is shrinking day by day and fast food takes its place .Changing our food habits we assure ourselves a good heart and healthy life.

Pamper yourself with decent hygienic diet to ensure good health . Try to  avoid foods that meddles with our health because our taste buds are insatiable as they don ’t guarantee a disease -free life.

Happiness is the status of our mind. We make hell or heaven out of the circumstances and situations and our attitude matters. If we practice  to live every moment with the principle of here and now and we can be always happy and it paves the way for us to be healthy. A sound body and  sound mind go together and when we keep ourselves relaxed and peaceful we make our life pleasant and joyful. With the right attitude one can be happy in hell and even in heaven one has to motivate himself  to be happy. Happiness has got the property of being contagious and it spreads it fragrance everywhere without our knowledge.

Everyday morning I take a pledge to live every moment happily despite the unforeseen circumstances ,unpleasant situations , unexpected happenings  no external forces can influence my mind to go moody and sad.
