Strict Punishment is vital

Every woman in India is called to be a Sakthi and worshiped like Goddess. Any man born to a queen is said to treat his wife as a princess. Ladies are having several roles in their life ranging from Mother to daughter at the various stages of their life. It is well said that God cannot be everywhere and hence He has created Mother. If a girl is born in a family it is celebrated as a welcome sign of Lakshmi who is the Goddess for wealth and prosperity. “Frailty thy name is woman" so quotes Shakespeare .It is very unfortunate that there is jump in violence against women, which may include physical torture to mental agony. The protection to women under the law is very much helpful and timely concept but how many women come out openly to get justice after a sexual abuse by some body is a million dollar question.

Despite the strict law the number of cases framed under the sexual abuse category is very much minimum because the victim does not want to expose herself to unnecessary publicity and always dubious about the outcome of the case. If at all they know their rights they would be in a better position to defend themselves and get a relief from the wound.

The sexual assault is a blow to the modesty of women and this will result in bringing the physical and mental pain to the victim which would not be healed very easily. The loss by way of losing the mental peace and psychological effect it has on the victim are telling effects of such incidents. Every woman is having a right to protect herself any sort of sexual abuse /physical assault and Law does not have a different approach just because she happens to be a woman.

Our education system should include the teaching of human rights as a routine subject so that the children would imbibe good values in the beginning itself and give respect and regard for all particularly children, women and old people. Girls also should be taught their rights in their childhood days so that in the later stage they would have the capacity and capability to tackle any ugly situations and avoid the unpleasant circumstances.

In this civilized society every woman has got the equal rights at par with their male counterparts and because of their physical weakness they are very much protected against sexual assault. It is highly recommended a strict and stringent punishment is given to the culprit so that these type of crimes are very much under control .Self defense is also advised so that this would be avoided and girls are to be trained to safeguard themselves from the merciless bad elements

Let me sum up, three reasons why it is important to encourage women to report sexual violence

1)It is every women's right
2)If she does not report thinking she will not be given due hearing  in police station or in court, she will not get justice.

3)It will become a scar whenever she remembers the rape and will lose hope in the society. She may commit suicide or live like a corpse which affects her family and friends.
